Important Information Graphic

December 6, 2024: The Georgia Department of Education released College and Career Readiness Index (CCRPI) data for 2024. This data includes students’ performance on the 2024 state assessments as well as other indicators, including schools’ progress with achievement for all students, course offerings beyond the core subject areas, literacy, and English language proficiency. Evans County Charter School System (ECCSS) scores increased in 14 out of 17 indicators, and in multiple components, ECCSS schools’ improvement increase from one year to the next is higher than the average state improvement increase.

The CCRPI includes five components: Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, Readiness and – for high schools – Graduation Rate. Descriptions of each component are included in the “About the CCRPI” section of this release.

The CCRPI no longer includes an overall, 0-100 point score for schools, districts, or the state. Each CCRPI component still has a 0-100 point score. This change was made to increase transparency and provide a more complete picture of school performance, ensuring that challenges and opportunities are not hidden behind a single score.

ECCSS scores for each component from 2023 and 2024 are included below. Scores from 2024 that are highlighted green indicate an increase in points earned for the CCRPI indicator; scores highlighted red indicate a decrease in points earned for the indicator.

Notable increases include:

Claxton Elementary School (CES) and Claxton Middle School (CMS) saw increases in all four components of CCRPI: Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, and Readiness.

Content Mastery: CES, CMS, and Claxton High School (CHS) increased in this component. CHS demonstrated the greatest increase (+14.2 points).

Progress: CES, CMS, and The Academy increased in this component. CES made the most significant increase (+10 points) and demonstrated a 10.41 point increase in ELA, 10.48 point increase in math, and 6.89 point increase in English Language Proficiency. CMS’s progress score reflects a 19.94 point increase in the subject of ELA. CHS increased 9.18 points in the English Language Proficiency indicator. The Academy middle school students increased 14.66 points in ELA.

Closing Gaps: CES, CMS, and CHS all made significant increases in Closing Gaps. This demonstrates an increase in academic achievement among all students, including all students identified across subgroups (Black, Hispanic, Multi-racial, White, Economically Disadvantaged, English Learners, and Students With Disability). CMS demonstrated the greatest increase in Closing Gaps (95 points). CES increased Closing Gaps by 46 points; CHS increased Closing Gaps by 49.3 points.

Readiness: CES, CMS, CHS, and The Academy (middle and high) increased in this component. The Academy (middle) saw the greatest increase (+14.9 points), scoring +45.91 points in the Beyond the Core indicator.

Dr. Marty Waters, Superintendent of ECCSS stated, “ECCSS celebrates this progress and these achievements, and we remain focused on continuous improvement in learning, achievement, and growth. We are dedicated to creating opportunities for all students to succeed academically, ensuring that every child is ready for the future. We extend our gratitude to our students, educators, staff, families, and community partners for their support and commitment to progress and achievement for all students.”

About the CCRPI

  • Content Mastery addresses whether students are achieving at the level necessary to be prepared for the next grade, college, or career and consists of student proficiency on Georgia Milestones End of Grade and End of Course assessments and the Georgia Alternate Assessment..

  • Progress measures how much students grow in English language arts and mathematics. Progress also measures how our English Language Learners are progressing towards English proficiency.

  • Closing Gaps indicates that all students and all student subgroups are making improvements in achievement rates from year to year.

  • Readiness indicators for elementary and middle schools include at or above grade-level reading, student attendance, and beyond the core. High school indicators include at or above grade-level reading, student attendance, accelerated enrollment, pathway completion, and college and career readiness.

  • Graduation Rate measures whether students are graduating from high school with a regular diploma in four or five years. This component includes both the four- and five-year adjusted cohort graduation rates and is only applicable to high schools.

* The Closing Gaps component is not comparable between 2023 and 2024 because the 2024 component does not include mathematics scores, since math assessments were updated to align with the new K-12 Mathematics Standards first implemented during the 2023-24 school year.
