August 3, 2023: Evans County Charter School System (ECCSS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kristy Vandenberg, Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services for ECCSS, to the esteemed Title I Committee of Practitioners. This prestigious recognition reaffirms ECCSS's commitment to academic excellence and underscores the dedication of its leadership in advocating for equitable education for all students.
Title I, a part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), aims to support schools and districts in providing additional resources and targeted assistance to improve the educational outcomes of students from economically challenged backgrounds. One element of this support requires that each state educational agency receiving funds under this Title create a State Committee of Practitioners to advise the state in carrying out its responsibilities. Members are nominated for three-year terms by the Office of School Improvement (SI) and approved by the Georgia State Board of Education.
As a member of the Title I Committee of Practitioners, Dr. Vandenberg will collaborate with distinguished educators and administrators from across the state. The committee plays a crucial role in shaping policy decisions that directly impact students' lives. Additionally, committee members are provided updates on national education reform activities, changes in Title I legislation and regulations, and other pertinent State and Federal information.
Dr. Vandenberg stated, “I am honored to be on the Title I Committee of Practitioners and look forward to collaborating with other committee members on ways that our state department of education can further support Title I schools.”
Dr. Marty Waters, Superintendent of ECCSS, added, "We are thrilled by Dr. Vandenberg’s appointment to the Title I Committee of Practitioners. Dr. Vandenberg has shown an unwavering passion for educational equity and has been instrumental in driving positive change throughout ECCSS for over 20 years. Her insights and expertise will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the committee's mission."
