Greetings, Tigers! We had over 30 responses to our "What are you reading?" Google Form for literacy month! Thanks so much to all who participated!
If you didn't get to share some literacy love this round, please be on the lookout for our "Why I Write" Google Form, and be sure to share what writing means to you!
This batch of reading love is from Tigers, friends of our Tigers, and another published author!
๐ What are you reading? Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
๐ฃ๏ธShared by: Jennifer, ECCSS Tiger
๐ Words of Wisdom: โReading is not just a key to success in schoolโit's a gateway to endless adventures and knowledge! While it's important to stay on top of your assignments, don't forget to balance that with reading for fun. Whether it's diving into a thrilling novel, exploring a new world, or learning something new, reading for pleasure can spark creativity and keep your mind sharp. So, make time for bothโread to learn and read to enjoy!โ
๐What are you reading? Ward D by Frieda McFadden
๐ฃ๏ธ Shared by: Christina, ECCSS Tiger
๐ Words of Wisdom: โReading is my stress relief. I can fall in love with a book and be lost in it for hours without having to think about anything else. โ
๐ What are you reading? Lost to Eternity by Greg Cox
๐ฃ๏ธ Shared by: Allen, ECCSS Tiger
๐ Words of Wisdom: โReading is fundamental to every other skill, hobby, interest, or otherwise.โ
๐ What are you reading? We've Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
๐ฃ๏ธ Shared by: Brandi, Academic Partner to Our Tigers
๐ Words of Wisdom: โThe best reading is the reading that you do: ebooks, messages, comics, all sorts of things count as reading!โ
๐ What are you reading? Podcasts: All for Literacy, Reading Teacher's Lounge, GADOE Classroom Conversations, Audible: Finding Me by Viola Davis, and book: Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek
๐ฃ๏ธ Shared by: Julie, ECCSS Tiger
๐ Words of Wisdom: โMany may view listening to a podcast or a audio book as not reading, however, when engaged in audio text, you are making meaning for the text and engaging in comprehension and critical thinking.โ
๐ What are you reading? You Become What You Think by Shubham Singh
๐ฃ๏ธ Shared by: Eddie, Family Member of and Community Partner to Our Tigers
๐ Words of Wisdom: โReading is knowledge. Knowledge is power. Reading, along with all forms of communication, is how we live each day.โ
๐ What are you reading? Audio Book- Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys and The Knowledge Gap by Natalie Wexler
๐ฃ๏ธ Shared by: Paige, ECCSS Tiger
๐ Words of Wisdom: โListening to the audio version of Salt to the Sea has allows me to better visualize the characters due to the voice narrations. I am using the free Libby app from the public library to listen to this audio book! All you need is a library card to use. โ
๐ฃ๏ธ Shared by: William Daugherty, Non-fiction Author and Believer in Importance of Reading
๐ Words of Wisdom: โWhen reading things you enjoy it โtransports your mind to anywhere in the world.โ When you find other authors mentioned in a book you enjoy, try reading their books. If interesting people and places are mentioned, learn more about them in other books.โ
๐ What are you reading? All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker and an article in Trade Show Executive magazine called 'All In on AI - How Organizations Are Evolving to Adapt and Leverage AI Technology'
๐ฃ๏ธ Shared by: Emily, Academic Partner to Our Tigers
๐ Words of Wisdom: โA professional goal of mine this year is to learn more about Artificial Intelligence. I just finished reading an article in Trade Show Executive magazine called 'All In on AI - How Organizations Are Evolving to Adapt and Leverage AI Technology.' My boss, Yarrow Diamond, is quoted in the article several times. She talks about the importance of using AI to improve both operational efficiency and drive customer experience.
I also love to read to unwind at the end of the day. I just started reading 'All the Colors of the Dark' by Chris Whitaker. There's been a lot of buzz around this book which seems to be part thriller, part mystery, part love story, with lots of twists all in one!
