📖 Ms. Brown worked with a small group of middle school Tigers to review and model how to determine the most important information while they are reading. Students then read and made notes about important information they encountered while reading. 📖#GrowingMindsBuildingFutures #TheAcademy

🐄✨ Learning About Dairy at Claxton Elementary! ✨🐄
Over the past five weeks, our students in Ms. Stuart’s agriculture class have been learning all about where dairy comes from. Last Friday, our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders had an amazing opportunity to experience the Mobile Dairy Classroom!
They got to watch a live demonstration of a cow being milked 🐄 and learned how milk goes from the farm to the table. It was an exciting, hands-on experience that brought their lessons to life!
Great job, Ms. Stuart, for organizing such a fun and educational event for our students! 🌟

🌟 Studying Smarter, Not Harder! 📚✨
Last week, during our CMS Coffee with the Counselor session, we were honored to welcome Ms. McDowell, Evans County Continuous Improvement Specialist, as our special guest! She led an insightful session, sharing 13 essential study tips for middle school students and their parents. 📝
These tips focused on setting students up for success, including:
✅ Creating a quiet study space
✅ Developing an effective study system
✅ Using planners to stay organized
✅ Estimating how long assignments will take
✅ Breaking big projects into smaller, manageable steps
✅ Communicating regularly with teachers
📒 Students also reviewed the valuable resources available in the back of their planners, making it a hands-on session to boost organization and productivity!

📚✨ Kindergarteners Enjoy Special Storytime at the Public Library! ✨📚
Mrs. Emily Cere’s kindergarten class had a wonderful time at the Evans County Public Library, where Rotary’s District Governor, Todd Freeseman, from Savannah, read "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell" to the students. 🎄📖
After the reading, former Superintendent Joy Collins gave the students pencils and mini Etch-A-Sketch-like toys, and Librarian Sabrina Wright led them on a tour of the library. ✏️🎁📚
Thank you to everyone who made this such a memorable experience for our students! 🌟👏 #LiteracyMatters #CommunitySupport #ClaxtonElementary #ReadySetGrow

Dr. Kristy Vandenberg, Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services, shared College and Career Readiness Index (CCRPI) data, following GADOE’s release of this information on December 6. This CCRPI data includes students’ performance on the 2024 state assessments as well as other indicators, including schools’ progress with achievement for all students, course offerings beyond the core subject areas, literacy, and English language proficiency. ECCSS scores increased in 14 out of 17 indicators, and in multiple components, ECCSS schools’ improvement increase from one year to the next is higher than the average state improvement increase.
