January 29, 2024: Evans County Charter School System (ECCSS) district- and school-level teams engaged in their annual mid-year sessions of academic data review to evaluate progress and plan adjustments for the second semester.
During this mid-year review, staff focus on analyzing achievement and progress data from MAP and benchmarks, identifying trends, areas of focus, and possible root causes, and devising and implementing next steps in action plans. School-, content-, and grade-level teams review and continue Tier I and intervention practices that reflect success and progress, and where there is limited data demonstrating progress toward goals, adjustments in actions are made.
On January 12, district staff and school administration from Claxton Elementary School (CES), Claxton Middle School (CMS), and The Academy (TA) participated in an initial session with the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) Comprehensive Support & Improvement (CSI) team that provided an overview of the CSI designation and process. Completing a comprehensive needs assessment similar to the mid-year data protocols is the first step required for the CSI designation. CES, CMS, and TA administration and district staff will engage in a second meeting with GaDOE in early February to learn more about next steps. With GaDOE support, our ECCSS schools will continue strategic initiatives that have been successful and implement additional actions that will provide students with improved learning opportunities and outcomes.
In the coming months and years, ECCSS anticipates witnessing the positive impact of these strategic processes and changes as our schools make the improvements in progress and achievement we collectively strive for. As CES, CMS, and TA continue on this CSI journey, they do so with a district-shared belief that every student has the potential to succeed and to be college, career, and community ready. ECCSS is optimistic about the progress ahead, emphasizing their commitment to creating an educational environment that fosters excellence and supports every student in their academic pursuits.
ECCSS expresses sincere thanks to families, community, and business partners for their support in ongoing improvement efforts. ECCSS invites all interested stakeholders to join in various capacities as they are able. Please visit the ECCSS calendar page (https://www.evans.k12.ga.us/page/calendars-and-events) to learn more about upcoming BOE meetings and other opportunities to engage with the school district. With our district collaborating closely with all stakeholders, ECCSS aims to create long-lasting impacts on the success of our current and future students and our community.
