September 9, 2024: We want to inform you that Evans County Charter School System (ECCSS) is aware of an alleged threat that was made on social media.
ECCSS contacted the Claxton Police Department, and they investigated the alleged threat. While it appears this threat is one of a series of hoaxes currently circulating on social media, all threats made against our schools are taken very seriously and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
ECCSS will have additional law enforcement onsite at all schools this week as a precautionary measure. School administrators and other staff will conduct safety walks, and schools will implement necessary safety protocols.
Thank you to our students and staff for reporting concerns. Also, we appreciate concerned parents and families who are supervising their kids' social media and notifying law enforcement and school administrators when anything is questionable, and we ask that you continue these practices. Parents and families, please share the seriousness of social media posts with your kids. The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority.
